CRUSH IN SEATTLE
- Thursday, June 2, 2011
With winemakers from Dusted
Valley Vintners, Ramseyer Vineyards and Basel Cellars Estate
Winery
featuring Chef Jason Wilson of Crush
Isn’t it romantic… with three makers of some of our state’s most luscious wines descending on Crush and joining forces with Chef Jason Wilson to seduce your senses. Turning out small batches of premium wine, John and Heather Ramseyer have continued the family tradition of winemaking with Ramseyer Vineyards since 2005. The origins of Ramseyer Vineyards go back to the 1960’s when John’s father began crafting wine at home. Joining them will be the Braunel and Johnson families from Dusted Valley. They began producing spectacular wines in 2003 out of Walla Walla. Justin Basel of Basel Cellars Estate Winery rounds out this group of devoted winemakers. Basel showcases each varietal to give wine enthusiasts a true sense of the terroir. Pair these dotingly handcrafted wines with Chef Jason’s fresh and unexpected fare, and it could be love at first bite. Jason has quickly gained a big rep for creating one-of-a-kind dishes with locally grown ingredients. This will be, in Jason’s words, “a dining experience based on quality, passion and relationships.”

JOHN HOWIE STEAK IN BELLEVUE
- Thursday, June 2, 2011
With winemakers from JM
Cellars, Amavi Cellars, and Mark Ryan Winery
featuring Chef Mark Hipkiss of John Howie Steak
JM Cellars' co-founder and winemaker John Bigelow went from the high-tech world to the high-touch world of winemaking, and thank goodness he did. John handcrafts wines for balance, power, dimension and finesse. He makes what we likes to drink, and he admits to a bias for red blends. The Goff, McKibben and Pellet families of Amavi Cellars are equally proud, and rightly so, of their award-winning wines. "Starting with the 2005 vintage, our vines are 100% estate, 100% Certified Sustainable, and 100% Walla Walla Valley." In contrast, Mark McNeilly of Mark Ryan Winery describes his wines as just plain rockin'. He's a rock star of a winemaker and it shows in his big red wines with rockin' names such as "Wild Eyed," "Long Haul," and "The Dissident," - homages to favorite rock groups, movies, and songs. Enter Chef Mark Hipkiss of John Howie Steak, whose extensive experience and knowledge of all things steak – not to mention his fresh Northwest cuisine from local Dungeness crab to house-made pastas - will be the perfect match for these artisan Washington wines.

BLUEACRE IN SEATTLE
- Thursday, June 9, 2011
With winemakers from Efeste,
Waters Winery, and Baer Winery
featuring Chef Kevin Davis of Blueacre
This evening, enjoy a night of Washington wine and food at Chef Kevin Davis’ (of Steelhead Diner fame) Seattle restaurant, Blueacre Seafood, a quintessential American seafood restaurant showcasing sustainable, approachable, amazing seafood. Joining him will be some ambitious and talented young winemakers. Brennon Leighton, a punk rock rebel turned winemaker for Efeste, was honored by Seattle Magazine in 2009 as “Winemaker to Watch” and named Efeste, Seattle’s “Best New Winery.” Jamie Brown of Waters Winery is also making waves in Washington wine. Jamie credits his love and knowledge of music for helping him to become an intuitive winemaker. “My goal as a musician was to anticipate a melody, without restricting its natural direction. The same is true for wine...” Last but not least, Baer Winery is known for its Cabernet Sauvignon-based blends, but hits a high note with its signature, Ursa, a feminine expression of red wine, predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Find out why these artisans have developed such a loyal cult following.

CAFE JUANITA IN KIRKLAND - Thursday, June 16, 2011
With winemakers from Long Shadows Vintners, Boudreaux
Cellars and DenHoed Wines
featuring Chef Holly Smith of Cafe Juanita
Winemaker Gilles Nicault honed his craft in the fabled hillside vineyards and wineries of Côtes du Rhône, Provence and Champagne before joining the state-of-the-art Long Shadows Vintners team and Dan Hoed Wine Estates. “Wines are made in the vineyard and only an excellent relationship between grower and winemaker allows the crafting of outstanding wines that reflect their terroir,” he explains. Boudreaux Cellars Winemaker Rob Newsom, a Louisiana native with a sly sense of humor, couldn’t agree more. Since Boudreaux Cellars is four miles off the power grid (the only completely self-powered winery in Washington State), Rob relies heavily on nature to hand-craft his smooth, deeply complex reds. Café Juanita, overlooking Juanita Creek, is the ideal location for this evening celebration of Washington wine and food. It has been a labor of love for Chef Holly Smith to express her passion for Northern Italian food and wine, a commitment to organics and sustainability, and a holistic approach to the entire dining experience. This evening, come celebrate the heritage, inspiration, and personalities behind some of Washington’s finest wines.
